8 Commonly Forgotten Wedding Planning Details in Central Indiana
We understand the stress that comes along with planning your dream wedding. You’ll see tips like packing a wedding day emergency kit, make sure you eat, and to double check you know where your rings and marriage license are. Despite your best efforts leading up to your wedding, you might feel that feeling that you are forgetting something.
We often see these common things couple tend to forget on their wedding day. These minor things can easily be planned for and taken care of to allow you to enjoy your wedding day to its potential.
Plan for leftovers
Have a plan for leftover food, cake, alcohol and flowers. Designate a friend or family member to round up all your leftovers at the end of the night. Does your caterer provide left over containers or do you need to pack some? Do you need to pack up leftover food or does the catering staff do it for you? Some catering companies offer donation to shelters to those in need. If you plan to save your flowers or make a keepsake, make sure to stash it somewhere safe and designate someone to transport home at the end of the night.
2. Designate Someone to Handle Wedding Gifts and Cards
Decide who will pick up gifts and cards at the end of the night and transport them home for you. Another recommendation would be to have someone gather gifts and cards after cocktail hour and place in a safe place.
3. Nice Hangers for Your Wedding Dress
A simple but important detail! Your dress prior to you putting it on is a popular detail photo your photographer may capture. You do not need a fancy personalized hanger for your dress. Opt for wood or white instead of the plastic hanger your dress most likely came with.
4. Designate Someone to Hand Out Vendor Payments and Tips
There is so much going on during the best day of your life. Lessen the “to dos” by delegating someone to hand out any vendor payments or tips. Don’t wait until the end of the night to track down payments to hand out.
5. Communicate with Guests Who Will Be in Formal Photos
Stay on track with your wedding day timeline by communicating with all family or friends that will be apart of formal photos. Let them know where to meet and how many photos they will need to be present for. Pro tip: Create and share a list of all formal photos with your photographer to expedite this process.
6. Back-up Weather Plan
As much as we want the perfect weather for your wedding, this is something out of our control. If inclement weather is in the forecast, plan for it! Is your ceremony outside? Is there a back-up plan? Do you have umbrellas available? Appropriate clothing?
Here at Bliss Barn, we have three outdoor ceremony locations to choose from. In the case of rain, your ceremony can be seamlessly transitioned inside.
7. Create a Day Of Point Person
During your day questions are going to come up. Your photographer may be looking for your details box, caterer asking about cake display, DJ questioning timeline, florist dropping off bridal bouquet, etc. By designating a specific person to answer questions and make decisions, this can lessen your stress and decision making on your wedding day. A day of point person can be your wedding planner/coordinator, maid of honor or sibling.
8. Plan for Sunset Photos
When creating your timeline be sure to add time to get away for sunset photos. This time will depend on the time of year. Talk with your photographer to coordinate the appropriate time.
